Productivity Commission Report: NHHA Review
As reported the Productivity Commission released its report reviewing the National Housing and Homelessness Agreement on Friday, 30 September 2022.
Shelter WA provided an evidence based submission to this review.
Analysis
An initial analysis of the Productivity Commission’s final report – In Need of Repair: The National Housing and Homelessness Agreement – reveals the Commission drew on and cited data and information 25 times throughout the report. Shelter WA’s submission was referenced in relation to the funding of homelessness services, data collection and reporting, private rental assistance, affordable housing, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander housing and funding for Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations. We were pleased the issues raised by our members and the research we commissioned for our submission received traction within their review and informed their recommendations to government.
Shelter WA will continue to analyse the findings of the Productivity Commission’s report and prosecute the case for increased investment in the next National Housing and Homelessness Agreement. Also, we will work with National Shelter and the Community Housing Industry Association on a joint national response to the review.
