Shelter WA in Geraldton

Shelter WA paid a visit to Geraldton in late July to attend the Housing Supply Group meeting convened by the Hon. Darren West MLC.

It was an informative session to learn about the current housing issues facing the region and to give an update on sector news on a range of important government initiatives, programs and advocacy that Shelter WA is undertaking on behalf of the whole sector.

Sector Meetings

The three days were filled with many member and sector meetings which was excellent and our Acting CEO, Lisa Kazalac had the opportunity in those three days to meet with:

  • RAW Geraldton
  • Mission Australia
  • MRAC – Murchinson Regional Aboriginal Corporation
  • Sun City Christian Centre
  • Ruah
  • STAY – Short Term Accommodation for Youth.

Shelter WA is designing a regional engagement structure to ensure we can keep the voice of Regional WA front and centre in housing and homelessness advocacy. We will be reaching out to the regional members to share an approach for engagement in coming weeks – stay tuned!
