Building Tenancy Skills Co-Design Team

The Building Tenancy Skills Project was greatly assisted by Regional Alliance West (RAW) in Geraldton last week.

Leeanne Robertson and the team helped with the filming of a video on financial counselling and tenancy advocacy for tenants who are struggling with their rent. The video has been codesigned with the Financial Counsellors’ Association of WA and by tenants with lived experience of disability.

Video Codesign

Justine, who features in the video, is now using her experience to encourage others to reach out for support if rents and other costs are making it difficult to sustain their tenancy. Erica James from RAW is pictured with Justine and kindly played out a scene typical of a meeting between a RAW team member and a tenant. This video, along with other resources currently being codesigned, will be utilised in the statewide delivery of a workshop for tenants.

The workshop will provide information about the Residential Tenancies Act in Plain English and will signpost tenants to relevant supports.
