Estimating the population at-risk of homelessness in small areas

The report finds that large numbers of renting households, estimated to include somewhere between 1.5 and 2 million Australians aged 15 and above, are perhaps only one life shock away from homelessness.

According to the research, the highest rates of risk are found in remote areas and in selected areas of capital cities, specifically, people living in both central and suburban locations on the eastern coast of Australia.

It produces Small Area Estimates (SAE) of the population at-risk of homelessness in Australia.

Factors

The report addresses factors that put an individual at-risk of homelessness and concludes policy awareness and agenda-setting in moderate or low areas of homelessness is required.
