At a state and national level, there is ongoing recognition that young people are a particularly vulnerable cohort that require dedicated, age-appropriate services to support their mental health and potentially cooccurring alcohol and other drug needs.

The Mental Health Commission has developed this strategy: A Safe Place – A Western Australian strategy to provide safe and stable accommodation, and support to people experiencing mental health, alcohol and other drug issues 2020-2025 with input from a range of stakeholders.

Shelter WA and the Western Australian Alliance to End Homelessness (WAAEH) are preparing a joint submission for the Inquiry into Homelessness in Australia.
