Youth Long-term Housing and Support Program

In January 2022 the Mental Health Commission released the Final Consultation Report from consultations to inform the design and delivery of three new services for young Western Australians with mental health issues:

  • Youth Long-term Housing and Support Program
  • Youth Psychosocial Support Packages; and
  • Youth Step Up/Step Down

The Mental Health Commission has now released a draft Model of Service for the Youth Long-term Housing and Support Program. The draft is currently available for public comment.

The deadline to provide written feedback is 4pm, Sunday, 2 October 2022.

The Mental Health Commission notes that following this round of feedback, there is will no further consultations for the Youth Long-term Housing and Support Program model of service.

Background

In 2021 the Mental Health Commission engaged Nous Group (Nous) and the Youth Affairs Council of WA (YACWA) to undertake targeted stakeholder consultations to inform the development of a Model of Service (MoS) for each of the three services.

Nous and YACWA undertook consultations in the Perth metropolitan area from August to October 2021.

Shelter WA provided a written submission to the consultations.
