St Patrick’s Community Support Centre is partnering with City of Fremantle to embed a Community Support worker in the Fremantle Library to be a community connector to engage with and provide support to anyone visiting the library who is experiencing homelessness, hardship or other disadvantage.
The Library Connect – Freo project will integrate a ‘floating’ St Pat’s support worker at Fremantle Library, to build connections with members of the community who may be in need of assistance, and offer information, advice and referrals to support services in an effective and responsive way with issues such as financial stress, housing, health and wellbeing.
The role will involve:
• Support and referral for vulnerable members of the community accessing the library.
• Support and training to library staff to gain a deeper understanding of homelessness and disadvantage.
• Through the Public Library, help to raise awareness in the community around hardship.
If you can work with a high level of autonomy, initiative and accountability and have the ability to work with a diverse range of clients, this is the role for you.
