NAHA Policy Options

The National Affordable Housing Alliance (NHHA) has launched its first paper.

About NHHA

The establishment of this Alliance recognises the need to fundamentally change the conversation around – and the approach to – delivering social and affordable housing in Australia. Relying solely on direct government funding is not sustainable on current policy settings. Neither is failing to address the growing problem.

NAHA brings together a range of groups representing different perspectives of the housing spectrum.

The Alliance is comprised of National Shelter; Community Housing Industry Association; Australian Council of Trade Unions; Australian Council of Social Service; Industry Super Australia; Homelessness Australia; Housing Industry Association; Master Builders Australia; and the Property Council of Australia.

Purpose

The purpose of this paper is to put forward a targeted number of effective, apolitical policy options that could be adopted individually, or preferably together, to create a pipeline of new affordable and social housing at scale by leveraging non-government sources of capital.
