Federal Inquiry into Homelessness

The House of Representatives announce inquiry into homelessness

The House of Representatives Standing Committee on Social Policy and Legal Affairs has launched an inquiry into homelessness in Australia. It will seek to understand the factors that contribute to people becoming homeless through a wide-ranging Terms of Reference.

Shelter WA and the Western Australian Alliance to End Homelessness will be preparing a joint submission for the inquiry. The timeframe is short with submissions due on Thursday 9 April 2020.

To inform the joint submission a Pulse Meeting is being held on Tuesday 17 March 2020 at 9:00am.

Terms of Reference

The terms of reference cover a broad spectrum of areas relating to the problem. Click here to view them.

Voice of lived experience

It is critical that the voice of lived experience of homelessness and housing insecurity inform our submission. An expression of interest for a person with lived experience of homelessness to undertake a short-term contract has been advertised.

This work involves conducting eight interviews with people of lived experience of homelessness and preparing a report for incorporation into our submission.

It would be appreciated if you could share the EOI among your networks.

Applications close on Friday 6 March 2020. For further information contact Lisa Kazalac or on (08) 9325 6660.
