Ending Homelessness in Western Australia 2021 Report

In 2018, the Western Australian Alliance to End Homelessness (WAAEH) released The Western Australian Strategy to End Homelessness.

It was developed collaboratively with hundreds of stakeholders of the WA homelessness eco-system and a group of organisations that came together with the goal of ending homelessness.

WAAEH also committed to completing annual reports on the state of homelessness in Western Australia and the important programs and initiatives aimed at ending homelessness in Western Australia. The first report was launched during Homelessness Week 2019 and was funded by Lotterywest. This report was released during Homelessness Week 2021.

Key Messages

There is a long way to go before we achieve our targets and the overall goal of ending homelessness. It will take some time before the current range of measures may impact on homelessness outcomes. There is a critical need for a more proactive response from the Australian Government, for increased supply of low-cost housing targeted at vulnerable households both in the social housing sector and the private rental market.
