Indexation Rate

The Cook Government has approved an immediate increase in the indexation rate for 2023-24 from 4.11 per cent to 4.51 per cent. The increase will be backdated to Saturday, 1 July 2023.

The increase reflects a 0.5 per cent increase to the Wage Price Index (WPI) component of the indexation calculation, which is intended in part, to assist community services providers to transition to higher legislated Superannuation Guarantee rates. Under the Indexation Policy for the Non-Government Human Services Sector, indexation rates are based on a weighting of 80 per cent of the WPI and 20 per cent of the Consumer Price Index.

The uplift to the WPI component will continue to apply in calculating indexation rates for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 financial years.

Agencies should provide the additional indexation funding for 2023-24 to eligible service providers as soon as possible.
