A new online portal will provide real-time data on available accommodation for people experiencing homelessness.
Homelessness Minister John Carey announced the award of a $2.25 million contract to develop and run a new online portal, which will make it easier for people sleeping rough and those at risk of, or experiencing homelessness, to access accommodation and other services in Western Australia.
No Wrong Door
The Portal will provide real-time data on available beds and supports across a wide range of service providers, making it quicker and easier to support people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness. It is a core piece of infrastructure supporting sector-wide adoption of a No Wrong Door approach to service delivery.
Technical development of the Portal will be led by Infoxchange, working in partnership with Anglicare WA, the Innovation Unit and Anthologie. The Consortium complements a strong core IT platform, with existing knowledge of the homelessness services sector, a clear understanding of the vision for a No Wrong Door approach to service delivery and human-centred digital design expertise.
Executive Director at the Office of Homelessness – Department of Communities (Communities) Jacqui Herring says work on the Portal begins immediately. Your contribution to the design effort will be invaluable and she would be grateful of your participation.
Anglicare WA Stakeholder Engagement
Anglicare will lead robust stakeholder engagement that will inform the development of the Portal.
It is critical this project is guided by those involved in this work already including the sector and people with lived homelessness experience who will be a key pillar of the Portal design process.
For this reason there are three ways of participation;
- A Online Broad Sector Workshop
- Homelessness Service Providers participation and
- Lived Experience Participation.
Online Broad Sector Workshop
If you are playing a role in supporting people to find accommodation or provide accommodation for people experiencing homelessness, on behalf of the Consortium, Anglicare WA invites you to attend an online broad sector workshop on:
Tuesday, 26 April 2022 | 12.00pm-2.00pm.
If you are interested in attending please book a place here.
The workshop will help the Consortium understand the current homelessness environment and the needs of all the people impacted by this work. It will be facilitated as an online session, open to anyone involved with supporting access to services or providing services in homelessness.
This session will be one of many opportunities to inform the development and design of the Portal over the next 12 months.
Homelessness Service Providers
Anglicare WA are also looking for homelessness service providers who want to be more involved in the design of the portal.
If you are interested please complete the Expression of Interest form here by 5.00pm, Friday, 8 April 2022.
Lived Experience Participation
Anglicare WA are also holding a Lived Experience Advisory Group for people with lived homelessness experience to contribute to the ongoing development of the Portal.
