Federal Election – Saturday, 21 May 2022

The Prime Minister announced that the 2022 federal election would be held on Saturday, 21 May 2022.

The federal election provides an opportunity to put social and affordable housing and homelessness firmly on the agenda.

No Fixed Address

If you don’t have a permanent home, you have the same right to enrol and vote as every other Australian citizen. You must enrol to be able to vote in a federal election. If you are experiencing homelessness or living in temporary accommodation there are options for you to enrol. Visit this part of the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) Website for more details.

National Shelter

We support our peak body, National Shelter’s pre-election policy platform, calling on all parties and independent candidates to focus on the national housing crisis in this election and announce policy options that will make a meaningful difference to the lives of thousands of Australians who are struggling to find somewhere affordable to live.
