Shelter WA hosted this year’s Homelessness Week, a national annual event occurring the first week of August.

2023’s theme was “It’s time to end homelessness”, and we chose to shine a spotlight on the regions.

This year, Shelter WA did things a little differently.

We made a decision to secure funding for a grants round that local communities in the regions and metro area could apply for, for local communities to showcase the issues and solutions in their own area.

We, with the support of the community, were able to put on an entire week of events.

We congratulate all the recipients.

The purpose of this report is to summarise the key insights and recommendations from Homelessness Week 2023, and to reflect on what can be done to end homelessness in Western Australia and in the regions in particular.

Community Grants to End Homelessness

Shelter WA were proud to secure $60,000 total funding through Lotterywest and awarded $40,000 to 15 regional projects and $20,000 for six metro projects.
