Number and type of affordable/social housing dwellings
It is made up of 96 prefabricated modules, which took just 10 days to stack and also enabled the 77-unit building to go from ground level to six storeys in two weeks.
Area of housing continuum
Adara is part of Stage Three that is the first of the higher density stages proposed for the site and consists of three buildings that will deliver 197 units in total. The Department will purchase 14 units in Adara, of which six units would be allocated to social housing and eight units retained for affordable sale under a shared equity arrangement. This is in line with the aim of achieving 15 per cent affordability in all government residential developments.
How it was delivered
The Housing Authority in partnership with Goodland Building Company. The apartment development has been largely prefabricated by Hickory Group, with modules being manufactured in the company’s Melbourne plant.
