SHERP implementation progresses

The implementation of the $319M Social Housing Economic Recovery Package (SHERP) is being progressed by the Department of Communities.

The Department advises that they have completed assessment of applications for the SHERP regional maintenance component and anticipates that letters will be distributed and grants awarded to successful applicants in late April/early May 2021, with successful applicants having until 31 December 2021 to have the works completed. $70 million of funding will be available for new build and refurbishment works for the community housing sector.

The outcomes of the sector workshop held in January are available here. The information and feedback gathered is informing a delivery strategy.

Shelter WA will continue to work to ensure that the issues and opportunities raised by the sector are considered by government in implementation of SHERP.
