The scheme will bring income and employment opportunities to the community
The Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) is a State Government initiative that provides a financial refund for approved beverage containers that are returned to an authorised collection point. The scheme is intended to reduced litter, increase recycling, improve environmental protection and provide new opportunities for social enterprise and community groups in Western Australia.
The CDS will bring income and employment opportunities to the community and provide support to people experiencing homelessness and/or long-term unemployment. The CDS will also support and encourage the employment of Aboriginal peoples and culturally and linguistically diverse people.
Last year Shelter WA facilitated a workshop for homelessness service providers with WA Return Recycle Renew Ltd, the scheme coordinator of WA’s scheme Containers for Change.
Tender documents for refund point staffing are available on the City of Perth’s E-Tendering Portal. Tenders close 2:00pm, Thursday 30 July 2020. Late tenders will not be accepted.
