Perth’s Median Rent Rises

CoreLogic’s home value index increased in Perth by 0.3 per cent

The Perth rental market had its first increase in median rents since January 2017, according to the latest Perth Property Market report by the Real Estate Institute of Western Australia.

The median rent in Perth increased to $360 per week in February 2020. This increase is being attributed to Perth’s vacancy rate dropping to 2.2 per cent, which is the lowest since March 2013.

While this is great news for investors and landlords what does it mean if you are trying to rent?

Shelter WA’s Consultant of Policy and Advocacy, Lisa Kazalac was a guest on ABC Radio Perth’s Drive program with Geoff Hutchison to speak about the issue of housing affordability and what this means for a tenant trying to break into the rental market.
