Regional WA
Shelter WA received a Lotterywest grant to develop a regional engagement framework to suit nine WA regions (Kimberley, Pilbara, Gascoyne, Midwest, Goldfields-Esperance, Wheatbelt, Peel, South West, Great Southern).
This project builds on existing regional work and engagement undertaken by Shelter WA including regional workshops for the WA Housing Strategy, stakeholder satisfaction surveys and member feedback.
It includes:
Port and South Headland
Shelter WA presented at the recent Hedland Housing Solutions Summit as well as meeting with service providers on the ground in Port and South Hedland.

Bunbury
A 2021 Community Scorecard commissioned by the City of Bunbury prior to their strategic community plan showed ‘access to housing’ was the second highest priority area for the local community.

Albany
The City of Albany have been involved in the Shelter WA Local Government Homelessness Knowledge Hub project and are also members of the WA Regional Capitals Alliance, with Shelter WA engaged in their Housing Solutions and Action Plan.

Northam and Dowerin
Regional Engagement Manager Rhiannon Bristow-Stagg visited the Wheatbelt Development Commission, Shire of Northam, Evoke Living Homes, Share and Care Community Services, Wheatbelt Community Legal Centre and local stakeholders at the Dowerin Field Days.

Murchison Region Aboriginal Corporation (MRAC) are an Aboriginal Community Housing Organisation (ACHO) focusing solely on housing, providing social and affordable housing to Aboriginal people and their families in the Mid West and Gascoyne.

Regional Engagement Manager Rhiannon Bristow-Stagg met with Shelter WA members Goldfields Indigenous Housing Organisation (GIHO), Anglicare WA, The Salvation Army, as well as the Shire of Coolgardie, Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission and Kalgoorlie-Boulder Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KBCCI).

Kimberley Regional Engagement
Shelter WA CEO Kath Snell and Senior Advisor Housing Policy Paula O’Leary were fortunate to spend a week in the Kimberley in June 2023.
The visit a part of Shelter WA’s regional engagement project activities, to hear about issues on the ground impacting homelessness and community housing, and to inform advocacy and policy work.
