Homelessness is experiencing when people do not have a place to call home. Homelessness is often associated with rough sleeping on the street or in a car, but homelessness also includes couch surfing, staying in boarding houses or other short-term accommodations.
The WA Government released All Path’s Lead to a Home: Western Australia’s 10-Year Strategy on Homelessness 2020-2030. Built on the work of the WA Alliance to End Homelessness and developed through the Supporting Communities Forum Homelessness Working Group (wound up in September 2022), this strategy provides the framework for a collective response to ending homelessness. It ensures that the WA Government meets its obligations under the National Housing and Homelessness Agreement, which requires all jurisdictions to develop a homelessness strategy.
