Escalation Assistance

Shelter WA has worked closely with the State Health Incident Coordination Centre (SHICC) team at the Department of Health to provide priority support to ‘’approved’’ Congregate Living Providers.

Escalation Number 

SHICC have established a 24-7 emergency escalation number. Public health advice, accommodation and transport issues can all be escalated within daytime and out of hours.

Once we have your details, we will forward them to SHICC for your inclusion onto the approved congregate living provider list so that the SHICC number can be provided to you.

PPE and RATs

The Government has committed to procuring and distributing PPE to community services organisations at no cost. This process will be managed by the COVID-19 Management Incident Team (COMIT) within the Department of Communities. Strong advocacy from the Western Australian Council of Social Services (WACOSS) has led to the WA Government providing free RATs to critical workers in community service organisations in addition to the five free RATs per household.

Communities are funding WACOSS to assist community service organisations recoup cleaning costs for responding to confirmed COVID-19 cases and to identify and develop measures to assist in surge staffing, including their proposal for the establishment of a Community Services Secondment Pool (CSSP). Further information on this will be provided by WACOSS and the Department.
