Drinking fountains are being turned back on
Shelter WA has been advised by the WA Local Government Association (WALGA) that councils, in response to advice from the Department of Health, are turning their drinking fountains back on.
This is great news for people who due to a lack of housing or accommodation support remain living on the streets.
No evidence virus spreads through water
Back in April 2020, Shelter WA attached links to information from the Environmental Health Directorate at the Department of Health which advised there is currently no evidence that SARS CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) can spread to humans through contact with water from adequately treated swimming pools or spas and that there is no evidence that drinking water will be affected by the COVID-19 virus or that it is transmitted by piped drinking water supplies.
