Community Sector Partnership Team – Updates

On Friday, 8 April 2022 a Sector Partnerships Team Update was released by the Department of Communities.

PPE/C and RATs for Community Service Organisations

The Department of Communities (Communities) has launched an online request form to assist community sector organisations (CSOs) to replenish their supply of Personal Protective Equipment and Clothing (PPE/C) and Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs).

Eligible CSOs can request collection from a nearby distribution centre or a delivery may be arranged, e.g. if distance is an issue. The types of PPE/C available will depend on the types of services the CSO provides.

Access the Communities’ COVID-19 PPE/C and RAT Request Form here.

Updated Guidelines for cases in Congregate Living or large households

The Department of Health has released updated guidelines on safe isolation for cases and close contacts in congregate living and in large households.

These guidelines set out the considerations for congregate living facilities or large households to determine whether a positive case can safely isolate on the premises, or if alternate accommodation for the positive case or others might be required.

The new guidelines can be accessed via this link: Checklist – Congregate living and large households – Safe isolation. There is also advice for specific industries and settings here.

Changes to 13COVID (132 68 43) Options

The State Health Incident Coordination Centre (SHICC) has advised of changes to the phone options for the 13COVID contact line, relating to requesting emergency accommodation or welfare assistance to isolate.

Callers to 13COVID seeking Emergency Welfare Assistance should now call 13COVID and select Option 4, Option 2 for the Emergency Welfare Support team. Emergency Welfare Assistance is to meet immediate, basic and essential needs while isolating.

WACOSS Cleaning Reimbursement Scheme

The Western Australian Council of Social Service (WACOSS) has been allocated $1m from the WA Government to support Community service organisations (CSOs) with additional cleaning costs incurred as the result of interaction with COVID-19 positive cases. Reimbursement can be backdated for CSOs who have previously incurred costs.

This funding is available on a reimbursement basis for any not-for-profit community service that holds a WA Government contract providing services to vulnerable community members, and is now live for CSOs right across Western Australia.

Visit the WACOSS website to apply for the reimbursement.

WACOSS Community Sector Surge Pool

The WACOSS Community Sector Surge Pool (CSSP) initiative will allow CSOs to temporarily share staff via secondments as a way to mitigate the furloughing of employees due to COVID-19, and prevent service disruptions.

If your organisation has capacity to temporarily continue delivering services with a leaner workforce, then please consider registering for the CSSP.

If you are already experiencing staff shortages due to furloughing, submit a request form so WACOSS can try to match you with suitable staff.

WACOSS encourages all of its members, and the community services sector at large, to register for the CSSP and ensure that we can all continue to deliver critical care services to the community. Register for the CSSP.
