The Department of Communities, together with the Women’s Council for Domestic and Family Violence Services WA and Stopping Family Violence (SFV), are hoping you will help them send a supportive message to victims of domestic and family violence during and after the social distancing and isolation resulting from COVID-19.
They are seeking women with lived experience of family and domestic violence, workers involved in the sector, and well-known people to record themselves in a 3-5 second video that will be edited together with others, into a video of approx. 90 – 120 seconds long. The video will be promoted via their social media channels and other networks, as an alternative way of communicating to victims of family and domestic violence that they have the support of the community and that services are available 24/7.
Record a Video
Just record a 3 – 5 sec video of you saying a statement of support, choosing from one of the statements in the attached letter. Then send it to the Department of Communities along with many others, they will be edited into a video that will be promoted online. The aim is to support anyone experiencing domestic and family violence as well as provide information on where help can be found.
The turnaround time for this is very tight so don’t put it off, be brave and be part of the initiative! Please take the plunge and record your video and return by 8am Wednesday 27 May.
All the details are in the attached letter, plus here is a guide to take great videos on a mobile phone, but remember to sign and return the consent form along with your video – otherwise the Department cannot use your video.
Please share this video with your networks.
