Housing remains the single largest cost for households in WA.
People on a low income are disproportionately impacted by energy costs spending a much higher proportion of their income on energy bills and often having to make difficult choices between basic essentials such as food, rent and energy consumption.
A Major Collaboration
BillBuddy is an online web and mobile app designed to help low-income households and those experiencing financial hardship reduce their utility bills and the cost of living, while also reducing their environmental impact. It has been collaborated to fruition between a number of not-for-profit organisations who provide housing and services to tenants, the financial counselling network and social enterprise, ClimateClever, with support from Lotterywest.
For further information on the BillBuddy project you can listen to Justine Colyer, CEO of RISE, discuss the new app here with one of the tenants involved in its development.
During the 12-month pilot program, clients of BillBuddy’s partners are able to sign up for free.
The partners are Financial Counselling Network, ClimateClever, Community Housing Limited, Lotterywest, MercyCare, Rise, Uniting WA and Housing Choices Western Australia.
If you are a client of any of our partners, please get in contact with them and ask about joining.
At the end of the pilot, the BillBuddy App will be made available to other relevant WA-based community service NFP organisations.
If you are interested in being involved in the future, please register your interest here.
