Johanna Mitchell is a policy researcher who has recently completed her PhD exploring the rhetoric and reality of urban consolidation interventions.
She is interested in rethinking housing and planning systems to generate more equitable and sustainable societies. She is particularly motivated by the potential of cooperative housing models and alternative land arrangements for producing livable homes for all.
Johanna holds a Master of Arts in Public Policy and has worked on various housing research projects in an academic setting and in the homelessness sector. Most recently she has been in a sustainability role in local government where she is passionate about the need for a socially just and fair low carbon transition.
