Dr Donna Turner
Senior Project Officer
Senior Project Officer
Donna is a sociologist who looks forward to the day when people who require support only need to ask once in order to be properly heard.
Donna firmly believes this will happen when people who need to use services are also actively involved in commissioning, designing, delivering and evaluating services.
In various roles, Donna has advocated for changes in policy and legislation to better support people with disability, particularly those people experiencing psychosocial disability, and their supportive family members and friends. Donna was previously a member of the Disability Health Network, she was Senior Advisor Systemic Advocacy with Carers WA, Head of Systemic Advocacy and Research with Helping Minds and most recently worked as a Senior Advocate with the Mental Health Advocacy Service. Donna has joined Shelter WA to manage an ILC-funded statewide project that aims to support individuals to become and remain confident tenants.
She will be working with a co-design team of people with relevant lived experience to present workshops and develop resources for people with disability who would like additional skills and resources to manage their rental accommodation.
