New Laws for Incorporated Associations and Clubs

The existing Associations Incorporation Act is changing in 2016, with new standards applying to financial reporting, governance, privacy, rules and membership of incorporated associations.

The new laws will provide a clearer legal framework for incorporated associations, reflecting modern expectations for corporate governance and the need to protect privacy of members.

The changes will apply to all existing incorporated associations from 1 July 2016.

Incorporated Associations will have three years to apply the relevant changes to their existing rules or constitution, and the Department of Commerce will provide a number of resources to aid in this transition.

For more information, visit the Department of Commerce website, and enrol with AssociationsOnlineto stay up to date and receive the Transition Packs as they are released.
