Shelter WA has urged the state government not to reduce its commitment to Metronet as a budget measure.
Stephen Hall from Shelter WA said “Metronet represents the single largest public transport investment in Perth’s history and will drive land use change that will help people gain better access to both social and affordable housing.”
“Metronet will provide real opportunity for housing policy implementation. The Community Housing sector has demonstrated its ability to deliver both social and affordable housing outcomes in partnership with government, other NGOs and the private sector. There have been learnings through previous projects which Shelter WA believe can inform Metronet’s land use planning policies and infrastructure development. We are excited by the opportunity Metronet presents to grow social and affordable housing in Western Australia.” said Mr Hall
