Stephen has more than 30 years of experience working in community sector organisations.
He established a youth homelessness service in Rockingham 35 years ago and has managed a tenancy advocacy service within a community legal centre for five years.
Before joining Shelter WA, Stephen was the Leader Mission and Service at Baptistcare which provides housing and accommodation services for people with specific needs. Earlier, Stephen was the manager of the Employment Law Centre, after leading the WA Association for Mental Health.
Prior to that, Stephen managed the Australian Council on Smoking and Health and was instrumental in driving two key pieces of tobacco control legislation through the WA parliament.
Earlier he was the Executive Officer of the Anglican Social Responsibilities Commission in WA after about a decade in the youth sector.
Stephen has also served on several community-based committees between 2001 and 2013.
He blogs about human rights and has previously presented specialist programs on community radio for more than ten years.
